ABOUT TERRI HYLAND

Terri Hyland (b. 1952) is a painter whose work explores the themes of coincidence, randomness, and inheritance. Devices such as hatch marks, ancestors initials, and blood relatives, make visible such issues as time spent, time wasted, and how the accumulation of all marks creates a new physical narrative.

Originally from Philadelphia, she attended Tyler School of Art, the Fashion Institute of Technology,  and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

After a long career as a fashion designer and costume designer in New York City, she returned to painting in the early 1990's.

Terri lives and works in New York City and Amagansett, New York.
